The Witch 387, completely inspired by the devastatingly horrifying 2016 film, The Witch.
New England, 1630: William and Katherine try to lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. ‘The Witch’ is a chilling portrait of a family unraveling within their own sins, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil.
This chilling, unique horror film moved me so much I had to create an art piece for it, and soon! Although I depended too much on existing photography stock, I think it captures the feeling of black dread. The nursery poem I didn’t get until second viewing, creepy indeed. Above are quick sketches and playing with the double V in the title.
